JULIA PLATT

Julia creates beautiful, expressive monotypes using
an etched plate and layer upon layer of oil-based
inks in different colours and hues. The result is a resonant piece of work which is completely unique. She lives with her partner and young daughter just outside of Falmouth.

Julia achieved an MA in Fine Art Printmaking at Canterbury and has been producing her large scale works at the St Ives Print Workshop for several years The work is often inspired by experiences and observations abroad.

Of her work, Julia says "…Through the layering of
inks, I aim to create an ambient state which seeks
to make the viewer feel absorbed and drawn in
and often reveals a new and unexpected source of
light. Anything that might dilute that experience is stripped away in order to intensify the image…"
