Graduating
from Wimbledon School of Art in 1990, Margrit's studio is located
just back from St Ives harbour front, where she can be found working
each day.
Her
contemplative works are inspired by archaeology and her experiences
whilst travelling abroad, and her sense of colour is clam and
balanced. Her paintings often contain many mixed, earthy materials,
whilst her printmaking is clean and crisp. There is always a strong
correlation between the two disciplines.
Her printmaking is editioned in small numbers and often appears
in a series of works. Of her work, she says "…despite the struggles
and pains which are inevitable in the process of making art, it
is for me also a celebration, a silent and meditative activity,
a kind of personal archaeology…
